Patriot POWER
September 2, 200856-0 WCHS…what a start for a first home game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Several of my former students made key plays. Mason Gomola, who I taught my first year at MCMS, had four touchdowns! Salty Dalty made 6 of 7 kicks, what an amazing percentage! Mr. Big Stuff, Chris Dodge, who plays as the quarterback, threw a 29 yard touchdown pass! I am so proud of the PATRIOTS as well as my former students! We had quite a number of Starfish students at the game, and the players appreciate your support. Make plans to attend this Friday for the Croatan game at WCHS.

Patriots Battle Eastern Wayne
August 23, 2008WCHS Patriots fought hard against Eastern Wayne. The ending result is somewhat misleading to the action that took place Friday night at Eastern Wayne High School. Although the final score was a mere 27-7, the Patriots demonstrated real potential on the field. At half time, the score was 13-7 Eastern Wayne, Reuben Simmons, a former student of mine, intercepted the ball with a little over a minute remaining in the first half. After Reuben’s interception, WCHS actually went back a net of five yards from where they started because of a holding penalty. The interception was thrown by West Carteret on third down and 28 yards to go from the 50 yard line. Lamar Best for Eastern Wayne returned the ball 67 yards for the TD. WC snapped the ball with one second, but there was no time remaining when the touchdown was made. I learned that unlike basketball – if the play is in motion, it continues until the player is tackled or scores. Yuck -when the situation is not in our favor! Patriots headed to the locker room with 20-7 Eastern Wayne. Surely, the Mighty Patriots were disheartened, but they did not let it interfere with their performance. Eastern Wayne only scored one touch down in the second half. Patriots almost scored as they were positioned on the 3rd yard line but unable to qualify for another touchdown. Fans, who follow Patriot football, will view this loss as a victory due to the vast improvement in the level of play compared to last season and look forward to good things to come. This “victory” was achieved with previously injured players and the loss of a key player prior to game time. Show your Patriot Pride and make plans to attend the Mullet Bucket (WCHS vs. ECHS) on Friday, August 29 at WCHS, game time 7:00pm. Feel free to comment and demonstrate your support!
